About Coaching

What does success mean to you?
What are the priorities in your life?
What is preventing you from being fulfilled?

These are the kinds of questions that coaches ask. These are just some of the issues that coaching addresses. Coaching is a formula for discovering what you want, so that you can take your life to the next level. It is actualized through a supportive, empathic and ongoing relationship, which allows you to identify and solve problems quickly. It is proactive, goal-driven, and measurable.

My clients are people who already have a degree of success, but their definition is changing. Life has revealed the need for more: more passion, more fullness, more integrity, more vision; and they want to meet that. They want to express and live from their authentic selves in every aspect of their lives.

How does coaching work?

“ Signy has an excellent capacity for seeing the real issues underneath the excuses, fears and age-old habits of acceptance. She can offer insights and exercises and support to help draw out that free soul buried deep under “shoulds” and “don'ts” and compliance. I've been introduced to myself again and can now look forward to getting to know the me my gremlins nearly shot to death. .”
– Julie Lees – Communications Coordinator, UBC School of Nursing

Coaching usually involves three 40-minute telephone sessions a month. I listen, strategize, and ask powerful questions, with the intention of focusing you and moving you towards problem solving and solutions. This is done by tapping into your inner resourcefulness and inherent capability, and by challenging you to go beyond your safety zone. You begin to see yourself through the eyes of someone else, thereby creating more objectivity. As a coach, I also hold you accountable and support you through the process of change. Together we create a vision for the future and map out a realistic action plan to get you there.

Who can benefit from coaching?

Coaching is not for people in need of counseling or therapy. Rather, it is for people who are serious about, open and committed to positive change, as well as for individuals who have experienced success and now find themselves asking, “What's next?” Those who want to move to a new level of effectiveness in their work and life, are curious and want to learn, and who are capable, willing and motivated to make ideas happen, will receive the most benefit. Coaching is also extremely valuable to people who are experiencing life transitions and need to find ways to navigate them successfully.

How do I get started?

“Working with Signy helped me to get focused and clear about what I really wanted in life, and her insistence that I keep true to the vision helped me to achieve it. I so appreciate her intense commitment.”
Elisa Hendricks – Human Resource Specialist, Midlyn HR Communications

If what you have seen so far has piqued your interest, then the next step would be a discussion along with a Free Sample Coaching Session. During this time we will discuss what you want and how coaching could move you forward in your life, as well as give you a 30-minute taste of what it is like to work with me.

If we see that working together is a match, we go on to the Discovery Session. This is a two-hour session, in preparation of which I will have sent you out a package of material to review and answer. This is when we take a look at where you want to focus and what your priorities are. From this, our coaching work will flow.
