And here is the thing that will make you go "wow":

Photo Credit: Rob Kruyt | Signy Wilson Beats CancerIn 2001 I kicked cancer's butt. Yeah, cancer sure came knocking on the wrong door, I mean who does it think it is? Now, not only am I done with cancer in my body. I am done with cancer in the world. I am committed to educating people around early detection; to ways of using our bodies, minds and the environment to help us prevent and beat it; to helping people to work in communities to support people with cancer so that no one has to do cancer alone. It blew my mind to discover that cancer is still spoken of in hushed tones, like it is someone's fault they got it, like it is something to be ashamed of. Well it is time for things to change. This fight is not over.

So, what does this mean for you? What I learned from cancer influences who I am, how I coach and what perspectives I see the world from.

If you want to.

  • Start honouring, respecting and listening to your body and using its inherent wisdom as an ally
  • Take your power back - be it with doctors, co-workers, family, whomever
  • Trust yourself with big and small decisions, knowing what feels right for you and believing that you have your own right answers
  • Bring self care and gentleness into your life
  • Create a community around you to share and witness your life
  • Learn to ask for help, in a powerful, empowering, and useful way
  • Appreciate life and celebrate successes as they happen

Then I want to work with you. These are now my strengths and specialities. Let me share them with you.

Why do I coach?

“Signy knows exactly where to probe and push me and, when she does, my true self comes alive and I am so much more engaged in every moment and every aspect of my life. She challenges and encourages me to be the person I really am meant to be.”
- Joy Torchia - Communications Manager, Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation

I struggle with the same stuff as you, I need help with structure and accountability, and with finding balance, and with keeping my eye on the big picture, I know how hard it can be. We all need the person who focuses on us and our needs and holds our feet to the fire on the things we really want to make real. Because after living through cancer I have come to see life as sacred, precious, important and NOW. Not tomorrow, not when you get that raise, not when you have accomplished the next big thing, but NOW.

What inspires me about coaching:

  • The deep trust required for the relationship
  • The profound enduring change that is possible through it
  • The risk that it permits
  • The accountability that come through it and what is possible because of that
  • The experience of having someone in your corner, committed to just you and just your success as you define it
  • That the relationship is empowered, not the coach. And that the system is designed by both coach and client, so that it works for everyone
  • That the client is held naturally creative, resourceful and whole - you are not broken and needing fixing, but rather are this powerful, dynamic person needing encouragement, accountability and championing, and someone to call you on your crap instead of co-sign it

I am committed to coaching people who want their lives back.
